Was feeling quite good yesterday, got the kitchen tops clean, loaded the (new!!) dishwasher and was well ready for a sit down. Needed to fill the rinse aid bit, but ...

could not open the b****ing bottle! It needed to be pressed in on both sides, and at the same time flip the lid. These little things really depress me - it is a constant reminder that Arthur is thereready to spoil even an ok day. I have to wait until later today before there will be someone else in the house to do it.

Mini moan over!

Hi Mandy

I know what you mean. Bottles are a pain and lids of any sort really. Hopefully, someone will be able to help you soon.
Take care

Yes mandy i couldn't agree with you more, the pinch and twist ones are killers!

I know we shouldn't and of COURSE I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS but I have been known to decant stuff from silly containers into easier opining bottles.
I have to say that I don't have any young children around though!
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Mandy,

I soooo agree with you. It really winds me up when some thoughtless creative designer in some company somewhere has come up with a fancy way of opening even the simplest of bottles / containers. Don't they realise that a significant proportion of their target market (elderly and those with mobility / function problems) CAN NOT access their products!

I've started buying products simply based on their accessibility for me and those that I can't avoid, end up massacring the packaging to get into.

Silly, narrow minded companies!!!!!

There ... I feel better too Tongue

I have to ask my eight year old to open the child proof bottles for me - even the one my Methotrexate is in. He doesn't have any probs at all. I have also complained at work because I work in a brand new building that is mega environementally/people friendly etc and has won loads of awards for innovation and design. However, every single toilet in the building has a flush that is a small round disc you have to push in to the wall, and because they save water, you need to keep it pushed in for a few seconds to flush properly. It's a real killer for me.

Oooh, I know the feeling!! I hate the tops of yogurt cartons, little plastic sachets of jam, marmalade etc that you get in cafes, and the tube of milk thingy in Sainsbury`s coffee shop!!! I had to get someone to open mine for last time I was there.

It is sooooo maddening.
I go into the street and hand the offending container to the first passer-by to help me Cool
People are very kind and I haven't had anyone refuse ...... yet LOL
It's a good way to make friends Blink

The ones I find hardest are the small jars of baby food. They are really hard as you have to release the vacuum. Also the fbaby bottes, the wide neck Avent ones are a killer. When I am at Sam's now his mum opens them all for me before she leaves, and has started to decant the food into small plastic containers. As for those silly milk sachets!!! I should think anyone finds them hard to open!!

i think we should all make a point of identifying offending companies and writing to them.
Who knows, we may even get some freebies to try out!
All my meds now are in easy open bottles, the receptionist at the gp arranged this for me. Wonder if she can do something with Marmite jars - thats the one i struggled with most recently..... & 6 pinter milks are banned in our house even tho' often they are more cost effective - just way too tricky....
i have a reputation for breaking things especially at work,
Also at work i couldnt open the pressure cooker lid, - houseful of hungry people and potatoes stuck inside the pressure cooker! Had to ask the neighbours for help!! (& Offending item now replaced with a smarter version, easy to use!)
